A fabulous job!

Amy Herring has written a thorough, reflective, inventive, intelligent and insightful book in Astrology of the Moon. Herring neither dismisses nor overglamorizes this emotional side of the psyche, and fully conveys her understanding that we not only have to honor the Moon to be happy, we also need to avoid letting it short-circuit our common sense. Her book covers the various meanings of the Moon, its natal sign and house placement, its progressed journey through the signs and houses, its aspects and the progressed lunar cycle. The requisite "cookbook" for all of the above is included, not just chunk by unrelated chunk; it's also integrated into the previous signs' or houses' meanings. It's great to see the synthesis of ideas throughout the text, which aggregates meaning and adds depth as the book progresses. The emphasis overall is on one's freedom of choice in how one approaches and works with our subjective side. Bravo!

Herring makes Artemis proud

Despite vastly different sizes and distances, the Sun and Moon take up almost exactly the same amount of space in our sky. To those who can entertain the idea that our universe is alive, sentient and is speaking to us, this is truly a miracle of the most stupendous proportions. It is also evidence that your Moon sign is just as important to understand as your Sun sign. In my experience, this can be especially true if you are a woman or a someone who was born at night.
Amy Herring has written a great new book on the Moon which is well structured, easy to read, and full of wise and practical advice for either the novice or seasoned astrology buff. I have been studying astrology for almost 20 years and the section on the house of my progressed Moon definitely gave me some insight into an emergent major life lesson. If you don't have a book on the Moon I recommend snagging this one.
Herring's interpretations are top notch. She uses effective metaphors from a wide range of sources, including literary quotes, pop culture, and real life experience. But my favorite thing about this book is its impeccable organization. Astrologers are not always the best writers, yet Herring has done an outstanding job of laying out the material in a way which is easy to follow and gives expression to the full range of any Moon placement. I'm looking forward to seeing more books from this great new author.

Not a cookbook version of astrology

As a professional astrologer, I am always on the look-out for books that inform and educate the reader. Amy Herring does both. In a clear and easy to understand manner she lays out both the natal and progressed moon signs. My favorite line in the whole book; "Astrology's best use is not categorizing or classifying, but direction and prescription." Amy gives us this line in the introduction and proceeds to practice it throughout the book. The novice and the professional will find this book useful and practical.
